When you look at the field pictures and get out on the field, you will usually find that most, if not all the shooters, are male. Part of the reason is that the girls usually aren’t invited because it is considered a boys activity. The truth is that many girls would love to get out there running across the paintball field and shooting a paintball gun.

When you have a female friend, sister, girlfriend, wife, or your mom show interest in paintball guns, you can make sure their first time on the field is a positive experience. Don’t take them to the field without some preparation, because it will set them up for failure.

The types of females that do good on a paintball field have the following traits:

1. Physically Strong - the paintball gun and gear can be heavy out on the field and she should be able to carry and run with her own paintball equipment


2. Tough - the girl that has to stop for first aid because of a paper cut won’t do good if she gets hit with a paintball, bumps into a shelter, or falls on the paintball field


3. Drive - a girl or woman who is driven to do good won’t let being the only girl on the field or failure, stop her from sticking with it and developing the skills needed


4. In Good Shape - Not only will she need to be strong, she will need to run, crouch down, and hold uncomfortable positions while playing paintball games


5. Fun Loving - knowing how to keep the game fun will make a female paintball enthusiast a positive addition to any team


6. Self-Confident - some boys and men may not accept a female out on the field, she will need to be confident enough to hang in there while she learns paintball gun shooting skills

Before heading out to the field with a lady who is interested in paintball gun shooting, take the time to prepare her for the game. Begin with getting her familiar with paintball guns. Have her help you with paintball gun maintenance and teach her about the parts and how it works. Get online and let her read about paintball guns, games, etc. So she really knows what is involved, pull up some paintball gun videos so she can see recreational games and competition.

Another way to make getting on a paintball field a positive experience for a lady (young or old) in your life, is to make sure they know how to shoot a paintball gun. They don’t have to be a proficient shooter before getting out on the field, but they should be able to shoot and be near the target area. This will take a little practice free of pressure. Let a new shooter alone shooting to figure out what works best for her. Women are physically built different and will hold the gun a little different.

Most fields have a place where the gear is kept that guests can sit and watch the game being played. This is a good idea for anyone who is new to paintball, before he or she joins you out there shooting. Protective gear is still recommended, because no matter where you are on the field, a stray paintball can find you.

When she is ready to step out on the paintball field with you, keep her close so you can give her pointers and cover her while she is learning. If she gets taken out right away and has to stand on the sidelines while everyone else plays, she might not be real interested in trying again.

When you are fortunate enough to have a lady in your life interested in paintball shooting, do what you can to make it a positive experience.
