The technique of Paintball Snap Shooting is when a player quickly peeks out of
cover and fires 1-3 quick and accurate shots before returning to cover. Have
you ever seen two professional paintball players duke it out quickly bursting
in/out of cover to fire several rounds at each other? Those players are using
the technique of snap shooting, which is a crucial skill for any paintball
player to master. Are you asking yourself, “How can I master this technique?”
In the beginning, snap shooting might seem impossible because the other players
are so quick at it and there is so much to learn. You are in luck because with
practice and knowledge of snap shooting, you can become just as quick as and
possibly quicker than those players. Eventually, snap shooting will be
second nature and easy.
Snap Shooting Tips
- Tuck in tight - make sure your body is exposed as little as possible keep your elbow, knees, and other body parts tucked in when snap shooting.
- Aim then Shoot – Know where your target is and be aiming before you even come out of cover.
- Shot fast – fire 1 up to 3 rounds each time you shoot.
- Be Unpredictable – Never continue to pop out in the same spot. Be unpredictable by standing, kneeling, and coming out on the other side of the bunker.
- Avoid tunnel vision - Snap shooting is normally a 1on1 situation but still need to be aware of other players so when you pop out you won’t give another player an easy shot on you.
Snap Shooting Steps
- While behind cover, have your paintball gun and your body in proper position.
- Be in an athletic position with your gun ready to shoot but still behind cover.
- Use your left/right foot (whichever one is opposite to your hand that is holding your gun) and lift your heel up while leaning out of cover.
- Quickly Fire 1 or 3 rounds.
- Swiftly get back behind cover.
- Repeat steps 1 to 5 until you eliminate your opponent.
Practice… Practice… and more practice, the key to being an expert at snap shooting. The exciting
part is that you can practice snap shooting anywhere and anytime. One of the best parts is that
you don’t need a lot of paintballs to practice this technique.
