Paintball Safety

Paintball is very safe, compared to other extreme sports. Due to manufacturers and experienced players emphasizing the importance of wearing protective equipment. When the proper safety precautions are taken, paintball participants are unlikely to be injured either in the woods or on designated fields. In the woods, extra safety precautions should be abided by because of the distance to any hospital for care.

The extreme sport of paintball is becoming more and more popular with over 10.3 million participants and growing. Procedures and rules should be watched even closer because with more partakers in this sport the bigger chance of avoidable injures happening. Players should be aware of safety rules, protective equipment, gun handling, health precaution, and safety companies.

Safety Rules

Most people don’t like to follow rule but paintball rules are mainly common sense to prevent any unnecessary injuries. There are safety rules to follow with handling the gun, wearing equipment, and while participating in a game. When participants follow these simple rules, everyone has a less chance of getting wounded.


Protective Equipment

Every player should wear the required protective equipment during and around scrimmages. Most paintball fields’ minimum requirement is goggles to protect the eyes. If a player wants to be extra cautious, there are options to protect almost every area of the body.


Gun Handling

While handling a paintball gun, a player should treat it similar to a real firearm. The velocity should never be over 300 feet per sec because any higher could have the potential to harm fellow participants. Also the gun should never be aimed at anything not intended to be shoot.


Health Precaution

During a paintball scrimmage, a player needs to stay hydrated and eat food to replenish energy. Drinking and eating extra before, during, and after a scrimmage is highly recommended. Over working the body could cause severe damage.


Safety Companies

Many different safety companies set guidelines that manufacturers, fields, and tournaments must follow to provide players with a safe environment. These companies test procedures to assure protection during games.
